Honeyshop Screamers are a ska band band born out of love for music. We're not in this just for the sake of being in a band. It is rarely 'fun' being a Honey Shop Screamer. The reason that we chose to make the music we do is to pay homage to music that we think is important and that has changed our lives. Music that has lifted us out of the bleak times in our lives and made the happy ones seem so much more real. This isn't about 'having a laugh' for us. This isn't something we do as a hobby. It's our way of making people look beyond established genres and challenge the conveyor-belt music that has plagued the 90's (and carries on into the new millennium). If your preferred type of music is happy-go-lucky, not-a-cloud-in-the-sky type ska (the type brought to you by Less Than Jake and the Suicide Machines) or punk then you will probably not like us. You will probably tell us to 'lighten up ' and 'mellow the fuck out'. All I can say to you is go and listen to whatever you want to listen to, but please remember that if you don't take yourself seriously then who the hell will?

The Honeyshop Screamers sound is a mixture of non-distorted ska with elements of reggae and soul mixed in. The aggression that we put into often leads to people using the word 'punk' to describe us, but we do not conform to any (established) punk formula. We make strong use of grooves created by bass & drums, and punctuated by off beat (and some times off kilter...) guitar, keyboard & brass hits. We make use of three part harmonies. Influences include; Dexy's Midnight Runners, The Specials, The Police, Toots & Maytals, The Clash, The Police, Sublime, The Jam, The Smiths, Leatherface and Paul Simon.

Out goal is to create our own, original sound that is a melting a pot of ska, soul and reggae.
