Cycling Links

Here are a wide variety of links to cycling-related websites, including several for the major teams. I have checked out the viability of all of them, but if they cease to function properly, drop me a line. If you happen to find an updated version, let me know as well!

Professional Teams

*OK, so I haven't explored most of these sites, beyond just checking they exist!*
Where I've given a score, it's based on this brief surf through the site, and takes into account the layout, detail and "usable" stuff. If you'd like to vote for a particular site, I'll adjust my scores and keep running total.

Banesto	5/10	No	Big improvement on last year (which was only set up for 1997!), but no English option apparent.
Cofidis	7/10	No	Quick site. A "boutique" is promised.
Crédit Agricole		Yes	Not yet updated with the team's data, just about CA's cycling sponsorship. Looks like team data will be put up at some point.
Deutsche Telekom	8/10	No	Updated for '99, with latest news. Uses Shockwave. Also has a shop.
Festina		Yes	Still on 1998, and wasn't updated after the Tour scandal.
La Française des Jeux		Yes	The link goes straight to the cycling sub-section. Click here to start at the rather cool FDJ homepage.
Kelme	5/10	No	Pretty good site, but all in Spanish
Mapei-Quickstep		Yes
Mercatone Uno		No	As a point of interest, note the URL for this - the cycling sub-section of the Mercatone Uno web-site!
ONCE - Deutsche Bank	4/10	No	Not bad, but still on 1998. It does have an individual rider email facility, but my Spanish isn't up to properly understanding it!
Rabobank	7/10	Yes	Great for recent newsy pictures.
Saeco	9/10	Yes	Top-notch. Good news section and photo gallery. Email facility too.
United States Postal Service		Yes(!)	Not bad, but still updating for 1999.
Polti			The Polti company's website is still under construction.
Lampre-Daikin			The Lampre company's website is also still under construction.
TVM-Farm Frites		No	All in Dutch, but good pictures and data.
Casino-C'est Votre Equipe		No	Part of the big Casino site, with several other sporting sponsorship connections.

Kennedy's World of Cycling and Babies and stuff Fellow North Ender Les Kennedy has a page of various bits and bobs. It's the other half of the BNE Web Ring :-)
The Tour de France Catch up with the official Tour web site. The 2000 route has been announced.
The UK Bike Shop database Self-explanatory really! Searchable by region, product or marque.
The Phil Liggett Appreciation Page Noted TV commentator and journalist, Phil is a member of the Birkenhead North End, coming as he does from the Wirral! One-nil to us :-)
The Best Chris Boardman Page On The Web A fan page organised by Greg Lunt, another North-West cyclist.
Dave Lloyd Bikesport Former top rider, now one of the best frame builders around. Based in Neston, Wirral.
Terry Dolan Another noted local frame builder. Based in Liverpool.
Dave Lawrance Cycle Racing Photos An excellent gallery of his own cycling photographs.
Cyclingnews One of the most detailed cycle race results service I have ever seen. What makes it unusual is that it's Australian!
Martin Newstead's Cycling Page A good cycling photos gallery. Includes a rolling Java slideshow of photos going back to 1989.
Pete and Ed Books A US-based mail order book store with plenty of bike info and links.
CDC Group Fellow North Ender Ian Boult's inflatables company. Bouncy castles, inflatable canopies, etc. As used at the 1999 Flintshire Challenge
