hypa Press Release: 28 November 1997 at 0900 EST

hypa has announced that it intends to help the government of the Republic of South Korea overcome it's current cashflow difficulties by mediating a merger between the Korean state and the telecommunications giant Global InfoCo.

hypa notes that Global InfoCo has been looking for ways to expand out of its current regulated markets, and merging with a state would meet these corporate objectives. The Korean state would benefit by having access to the huge cash flow of this telecoms giant, running to several billion dollars a month. We have suggested that as a sign of good faith, Global InfoCo should purchase 49% of the equity of the Korean state.
