In an attempt to support the peace plan, space aliens abducted the leading campaigners against the peace agreement and attempted to replace them with clones who would support the agreement.
Tragically, the cloning process went horribly wrong, with the result that the No campaigners went totally mad. Sadly there was no alternative but to return them back to their own political parties where they continued to campaign.
Fortunately for the space aliens, nobody actually noticed that the opponents of the peace plan were clinically insane.
