The weather is getting pretty groggy now, and the places we normally go for long walks are all really muddy - I hate the mud. Sometimes I have to remind Sarah and Nigel who's boss by nudging them over so that I can get to the dry part of the path.
I've taken the bad weather as a sign that I am probably not getting enough rest, so I'm trying to rectify that. It's a little funny at the moment, because it seems that everytime I start dozing off, someone rings the doorbell and wakes me up. Sarah goes to the door, and comes back with a box. We must be collecting boxes for some reason, but nobodys telling me why.
Towards the middle of December, everything got a little chaotic, everyone kept going out, then coming back a few hours later all tired and fed-up. Then, all the boxes got covered in coloured paper and stacked in a big pile. Nigel hurt his foot, and hobbled round the house leaning on a stick. Needless to say, Sarah and I had to go for our walks alone.
Eventually, all the boxes were all crammed into the car boot (I got harnessed into the back seat) and we drove up to Nigels Mums house. When we got there, they had loads of coloured boxes too, and a tree with lights on - inside the house. We went for a long walk by the canal, and it was really cold, so I warmed myself up by running round as fast as I could. Its great I just wish Audi and Kiri (the dogs who live at Nigels parents house) could keep up.
The next morning, everybody got up really early. I was worried cos it must be something really major to make them get up that early. moved all the boxes into the main room. Then they shared the boxes out (I had about five of my own), and everyone started tearing the paper off to see what was inside. Mine had fluffy toys, and biscuits and chews and all sorts of great stuff inside. Audi and Kiri must have done this before cos it wasn't long before Audi was trotting round the room with a lollipop thing hanging out of her mouth. I was quite confused but Nigel helped me open it.
The rest of the day was great, eating sleeping and playing with my new toys, my favourite was a reindeer. Talking of which, Sarah had got me one present which I wasn't so keen on - yep a headband with reindeer antlers on it. Humans!
We set off early the next day to Sarahs mums, they too had a tree in the house and I simply couldn't let the opportunity go by this time so I christened it as soon as I saw it. I think everyone was a bit nervous that I would give a repeat performance of my previous visit which meant I was allowed to sleep in the bedroom with Sarah and Nigel. I like it better upstairs so I often went up there for naps during the day too.
So it was a long and tiring month but I got to meet lots of people and dogs and I had a great time in the snow on the beach. Hopefully January will give me a chance to rest.
