Organisations
- Forestry Commission. Principle source of grants in the UK for Woodland planting. Grants are
available for new woodland establishment and for the management and upgrade of existing
woodlands. They also offer special incentives to encourage woodlands on farms.
- English Nature Offer various grant types including discretionary , Local Nature
Reserve and species recovery.
- Ministry of Agriculture, Fishery and Foods. Offer
the Countryside Stewardship Scheme where grants are available for improving areas of the
countryside. Specified works include hedge establishment and maintenance, tree planting,
pollarding and regeneration of orchards.
- British Plastics Federation At the time of writing (10th July 1999) the PVC industry is offering to
donate thousands of tree shelters free of charge to conservation groups involved in
planting for the millennium. For more details contact Andrew Rose, British Plastics
