With the 1st series only, the 'Clear Original 9', 'Retired' and 'Rookie/Birthday' cards have 4 different foil colours of each card, the colours are (in order of most rarest/least made first):
GOLD |
SILVER |
BLUE |
RED |
Each one of the special cards is one of these colours. The gold cards are the most HTF and the least is the red cards. The unsigned gold cards can be worth as little as £94 ($150) or as much as £1375 ($2200)!! And the reds can vary between 70p ($1) and £100 ($160).
All the gold and Original 9 cards have a set of gold foil numbers on the card, stating which no. card you have, and how many of that particually card was made. There is less gold cards made as it's the rarest colour, so the set of no's will be much lower, usually in the 100's mark. This is how it works thoughout the colours, so when it gets to the Red Original 9 cards the no's will be in their 1000's.
So, how can you tell the difference?? Well, the Original 9, Retired and Rookie/Birhtday cards all have different ways of telling, the:
ORIGINAL 9 CARDS have got the words 'Original 9' printed in foil on one of it's 4 corners, and whatever colour it is printed in, is the colour of the card. Take a look at the 4 pictures below. These are pic's of 4 Original 9 cards, one of each colour.
RETIRED CARDS have got a 'foil circle RETIRED stamp mark' on it, the stamp also contains the date on which the beanie retired. Whatever colour this 'Retired Stamp Mark' is, is the colour of the card. Take a look at the 4 pictures below. Theses are pic's of 4 Retired cards, one of each colour.
ROOKIE/BIRTHDAY CARDS have got the name of the beanie on the top left hand side, whatever foil colour it is printed in, is the colour of the card. Make sure it's the name you look at and not the birthday of the beanie, as a lot of people tend to look at this part first as it's printed in gold and persume it's GOLD! Take a look at the 4 pictures below. These are pic's of 4 Rookie/Birthday cards, one of each colour.
The most HTF cards are the cards which are signed by Ty Warner himself. There are 296 different signed cards, he signed one of each common card and one of each coloured card. Each signed card has a foil gold stamp marked '1/1', stating that there is only ONE of these about! See Pic. Below.
The next most hardest to find is the 'Original 9' cards. These cards are marked with 2 gold numbers, it would look something like this '1/8840', the first number means what No. card you have, and the second means how many of that type of card was made.
'Retired' cards are the next hardest to find. The gold retired cards are the only ones marked with a gold foil card number, the blues, silvers and reds don't have one as these are more easy to find.
Then last before the common cards it's the Birthday/Rookie cards. Like the Retired cards, only the gold birthday/rookie cards are marked with card numbers.

Puzzle cards were issued in every pack of cards. There are 8 different designs in total. Each card is the same size as a Ty card, but you can punch the pieces out to do a puzzle! See pic below!
