A little bit about our origins
CCADS was founded in 1981 by Karen James and was originally
based at Christ Church United Reformed Church in Chapel Road, Redhill, hence Christ
Church Amateur Dramatic Society. Unfortunately in 1988 Christ Church was closed and
the club moved to its new home at St. Josephs Parish Centre in Ladbroke Road but
decided to retain its initials CCADS as the clubs name.
To date
Nowadays CCADS has grown to have over sixty members of all
ages who enjoy performing Pantomime, Olde Tyme Music Hall, Variety Shows, Plays and
Musicals. We normally put on two shows a year, in the school half term weeks of February
and October. Recently we have become more ambitious, and in February 93 we put on our
first large scale musical My Fair Lady which was a huge success. Since then we have
performed Daisy Pulls It Off and Salad Days that, again, were very successful.
Events
As well as performing, we arrange a variety of social events
that include barbecues, treasure hunts, theatre trips, quiz nights and workshops.
Rehearsals
Our usual rehearsal times are Wednesday evenings from 7.30 pm
to 10.00 pm (9.00 pm for our younger members) at Frenches Lodge, Frenches Road, Redhill,
and on Sundays from 2.30 pm to 5.00 pm at St. Josephs Parish Centre, Ladbroke Road,
Redhill.
So whether you enjoy treading the boards and being in the limelight, or
working behind the scenes, We hope to welcome you to CCADS shortly.
