The Rossendale Rambler

An Appeal from the Heart

Some time ago, I seem to recall it might have been at a meeting in The Griffin, I lent someone my little book on leading Ramblers Association walks. It might even have been to someone who was contemplating leading walks or someone who had a specific interest in the topic at that particular time.

Quite recently someone else asked if they could borrow it and when I went to my bookshelf it was not there. If I remember rightly the book has a largely green cover and might well be spiral bound.

If anyone reading this remembers borrowing it would they please return it to me or else I shall have to buy another one. Thanks, Ed.

ANOTHER APPEAL (Again)

Before I appeal let me first apologise to those contributors who have not had their articles published in this edition of the Rambler. In preparing this issue I have been in the fortunate position of having a certain amount of choice about what I was able to include. It was therefore editorial discretion that prevailed in order to give you, the readers, as broad a range of contributions and news as was possible. Rest assured that most contributions do get published at some time.

Now for the appeal: I would like to continue to be in the same fortunate position in regard to future issues and in order for this to happen I need a regular supply of copy from the readership. As mentioned before, I can usually rely on my own scribblings or those from regular contributors, once I twist their arms enough, but to reflect the taste and opinions of all of you, I need lots of ‘fresh blood’ to send me in the copy that I crave.

So come on now all you closet writers, tell us about your favourite walks, a funny story, a faux pas you feel able to talk about or an item of kit that you particularly like and want to wax lyrical about. I look forward to hearing from you. Ed.
