Stars In Their Eyes

Unlike the celebrity special produced last year, this one featured personalities who could all at least sing although not all the impersonations were successful. Matthew Kelly is the perfect host although I have noticed that with the public he tends to try and put them at their ease before they sing while the personalities are reminded how nerve-wracking performing can be. Of the five guests tonight only Ben Freeman of Emmerdale was a bit off while Denise Welch as Petula Clark was unconvincing. Harry Hill as Morrissey was both faithful and funny, while Michelle Collins as Chrissie Hynde and Kirsty Young as Peggy Lee were both excellent. Any of those three deserved to win so I wasn't upset when Kirsty was chosen. I'm looking forward to the new series already. ****
