This was the first dedicated Holistic, Alternative and Natural Medicine Veterinary Clinic in the UK. It was established in 1987, but holistic vet and homeopathic vet Christopher Day, the proprietor, has been renowned for his work in this field for over 37 years. The therapies used are Veterinary Homeopathy (a.k.a. Homoeopathy, Homœopathy), Veterinary Acupuncture, Herbs (a.k.a. Herbal Medicine), Aromatherapy (a.k.a. Essential Oils), Schuessler Tissue Salts, LASER, Ultrasound, Chiropractic Manipulation, Bach Flowers (a.k.a. Flower Essences) , Nutrition / Natural Feeding / Dietary Medicine and Managemental (Preventive) Medicine.

We see horses and ponies, dogs, cats, cattle, sheep, goats, donkeys, pigs, buffalo, ferrets, rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese and other poultry, birds of prey (raptors), cage birds, snakes, tortoises (and other reptiles) and exotic animals of all types. We have attended farmed camelids (llamas and alpacas) and deer and would enjoy treating reindeer, which are now kept in the UK. Homeopathic treatment of equine (horse & pony), feline and canine cases make the majority of our work. The aim is to provide a personal and holistic service.

Small animals can be brought to the clinic but horses and farm animals are usually visited at their homes. Small animals (dogs, cats etc.) can also be visited, by arrangement.

For those too distant or unable to travel, whether from illness, disability, distance, foreign residence etc., we offer an on-line Video Consultation Service. This uses your own webcam and can offer a service worldwide.

We also offer, especially for established clients, an equine vetting service (horse vetting or pony vetting).

Diseases that we are commonly asked to treat are: allergy, asthma, atopy, arthritis, back problems, cancer, canine epilepsy, canine stroke, chronic cough, chronic diarrhoea, CDRM, colitis, COPD, cruciate ligament injury or rupture, disc disease (PID), eczema, epilepsy, gingivitis, head shaking (a.k.a. head-shaking, headshaking), hip dysplasia, interdigital cysts, lameness, laminitis, moonblindness (a.k.a. periodic ophthalmia, recurrent ophthalmia, recurrent uveitis, moon blindness), mud fever, navicular, paralysis, pyoderma, sarcoids, spondylosis, stomatitis, sweet itch (a.k.a. sweetitch), vestibular syndrome, warts.

We serve organic farming and offer a 10% discount on fees to farms that are bona fide members of the Soil Association or BDAA. We also offer a 10% discount on fees to bona fide home educating families.

We have a strong environmental policy and we are involved in worldwide animal welfare issues.

Chris Day also does ‘expert witness’ work, particularly with regard to welfare and natural medicine.

The pages on our main site are designed to give you information and enjoyment. It is a constantly developing and interactive site. Please click & browse at your leisure: http://www.alternativevet.org . Among the very varied pages, the site gives descriptions of the therapies and describes the application of the therapies in each species. There are also short and full CVs for Christopher Day.

On that site, links are also provided to other sites, with common interests in the various fields or to augment the information we have provided on a topic.

Also visit: www.veterinary-acupuncture.co.uk AND www.veterinary-homeopathy.co.uk AND www.veterinary-herbal.co.uk AND www.veterinary-holistic.co.uk AND www.chiropractic-vet.co.uk AND www.equineacupuncturevet.co.uk AND www.naturalfeeding.co.uk, all of which are highly focused, compact sites, explaining each therapy and its application.
