| HOME | Black Cohosh Black Cohosh is a herbal medicine that has been used for a number of years for female hormonal problems. It has oestrogenic properties, but the situation is perhaps more complex than at first glance. It is known to bind to oestrogen receptors, but the effect is complex. For example, recent studies show that Black Cohosh has an inhibitory effect upon the growth of breast cancer cells similar to that of Tamoxifen, a drug with anti-oestrogenic effects. In fact, Black Cohosh enhances the effect of Tamoxifen when they are given together. Black Cohosh may therefore be used in patients with a history of breast cancer. Recommended Dosage15 drops twice daily. May be increased if necessary – as advised by a health practitioner. Cautions / Adverse ReactionsBlack Cohosh is usually well tolerated at the recommended dosage. Avoid in pregnancy and breast feeding. IngredientsAll herbal tinctures contain alcohol.
