HOME | Cranberry Cranberry has been used for many years for urinary tract infections. It appears to work by inhibiting the ability of bacteria to ‘stick’ to the wall of the bladder, and thus causing irritation and infection. Although cranberry can be drunk, it is far easier to obtain high doses by using an encapsulated formulation, or a powder, particularly when it is produced as an extract. Although we try to use whole herbs in most of our preparations, there are a small number of herbs that have greater value when prepared as extracts, which allows the use of highly concentrated amounts of the original herb. Cranberry may also be used for hay fever and food or chemical allergies, and may be of value in diabetes. Cranberry powder is also used in our Weight Management Programme, and helps detoxification of the liver and weight loss.
