| HOME | Essiac Essiac is a herbal remedy for cancer developed by a Canadian nurse called Rene Caisse. (Essiac is Caisse spelt backwards.) Caisse was given the recipe by one of her patients who cured herself of breast cancer using the herbs, and Caisse herself successfully treated her aunt with metastatic stomach cancer – and other patients – using a similar formulation. There is a wealth of anecdotal evidence supporting the value of Essiac in the supportive treatment of cancer patients, with some stories of complete relapse. Breast and stomach cancer remain the most common cancers treated, although there are reports of success with other cancers also. Essiac is produced by Better Health following the same formulation as the original used by Caisse. Essiac is also available as a tea, although the dosages of herb achieved in this method is probably lower than those obtained by taking the herbal tincture itself. Recommended Dosage5mls at night, with 10mls hot water. May be increased if necessary – as advised by a health practitioner. Treatment should be continued for 32 days, then taken every 3 days.
