Sheringham, a quiet
seaside resort on the north Norfolk coast, is a perfect holiday
destination with many local attractions and activities as
well as easy access by car, bus and train to the wider countryside
and other Norfolk towns and villages.
In addition to pubs,
restaurants and shops, Sheringham hosts a market on Saturdays and,
in the holiday season, Wednesdays. You can visit the Sheringham Museum and follow
the heritage trail, or discover the many local crafts and
craftsmen. You may also like to visit the Little Theatre, or
one of the many stately homes in the area such as Felbrigg
Hall.
Sheringham can also offer
one of Norfolk's most popular attractions - The North Norfolk
Railway. Take a 10.5 mile round trip by steam train through
an area designated as being of outstanding natural beauty, and
enjoy the historic stations, railway museum and visitors' centre.
There are miles of
uncrowded sandy beaches with safe bathing, or, if you prefer, turn
your attention inland to the rolling scenery and diverse flora and
fauna. Bird watchers, cyclists, walkers and ramblers are
well catered-for, and of course there is the official Norfolk Coastal Path
which passes Beeston Hills Lodge.
For the more active
holidaymaker there is the Splash Leisure Centre with swimming
pool, several local horse riding centres, and public golf courses
either in or within easy reach of Sheringham. Watersports,
windsurfing, yachting and boating are all popular with Norfolk
holidaymakers. The Norfolk Broads are within 45 minutes'
drive, and with over 200 miles of rivers, waterways and broads you
will find everything from dinghy hire and sailing lessons to
windsurfing and water-skiing.
Other easily accessible
towns in the area which are well worth a visit are the ancient
cathedral city of Norwich, the University town of Cambridge, and
the fascinating seaside resorts of Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft,
Cromer and Kings Lynn.
