CRAFT DAY  -  23 February 2008

Patrols were given a random schedule directing them to six of the ten crafts on offer – three Patrol Challenges and three individual activities. All were marked out of 100, and the marks adjusted to make a possible total of 1000.

The ten challenges were:

1. Ship Building - with Madeira cake, butter cream, chocolate fingers, maltesers etc.

2. Pop Stars - using ‘junk’ to create costumes and instruments, with a two-minute performance at the end of their session.

3. Orbles – creating giant baubles using decorated paper plates.

4. Hats Off to Them – making a variety of costume hats using stiff coloured paper.

5. It’s All in the Cards – making greetings cards from decorative kits

6. Plate Painting

7. Butterflies – decorated with minute beads

8. Purses and Wallets – made from soft leather remnants

9. Bracelets - threading beads on

10. Accessories – using plastic looms

163 Guides took part and seemed delighted with the challenges. Unfortunately, a Scout Patrol missed the deadline for entry.
