One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after;
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life  (Psalm 27:4)

Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them ...
is like a [wise] man which built a house, and digged deep, and laid the foundations on a rock:
and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it:
for it was founded upon a rock
(Luke 6:47-48)

Let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
For other foundation can no man lay that is laid, which is Jesus Christ
(1 Corinthians 3:10b-11)

If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalm 11:3)

God's Ways or Human Wisdom?  (January-February 2006)

"The very fact that God's ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:9) has important implications in both salvation (justification) and Christian growth (sanctification). God's plan of salvation is an example of how His ways are higher and therefore different from man's ways. His plan was the sacrifice of His only begotten Son, which is quite beyond the imagination and comprehension of the human mind. Human wisdom relies on self-improvement, salvation by works, or some other such human endeavour..."

Psychology's Misguided Ideas  (July-August 2005)

"For the last 25 years we have been writing about the myths and unholy mixtures promoted by 'Christian psychologists' and psychologized Christians ... and we have confronted a number of misconceptions and misguided ideas throughout our articles and various books. Every once in a while we notice that those who have been paying attention to what's going on in the field of psychology and primarily psychological counseling recognize that some of psychology's most popular ideas are indeed misguided..."

The Biological and Biblical Dangers of Problem-Centred Counseling  (March-April 2004)

"In certain situations there are biological and biblical reasons why one should not use problem-centred counseling. Biological Reasons: Problem-centred counseling can be particularly dangerous where there are undetected physical disorders ... Biblical Reasons: There are doctrinal reasons why a person seeking ministry should not discuss certain problems of living with others and why helpers should neither encourage them to do so nor participate in such talk..."

Christ-Centred Ministry versus Problem-Centred Counseling  (January-February 2004)

"Many years ago we traveled through the dark terrain of psychology hoping to discover the secrets f human nature and ho to help people suffering from problems of living. The more we searched through the theories and therapies of counseling psychology, the more we saw its fallacies, failures, and false ways..."

Living Water  (September-October 2000)

"During the twentieth century psychotherapy displaced the soul of man with the mind and replaced the cure of souls with the cure of minds. The psychological way has usurped the place of the spiritual; psychological opinions of men have contaminated the Word of God; and even Christians look to psychotherapy rather than to sanctification in dealing with soul problems. It is our position that the Bible provides both a spiritual basis for Christian growth and a spiritual solution for nonorganically-caused mental-emotional-behavioral problems..."

James Dobson's Gospel of Self-Esteem and Psychology  (July-August 1998)

"We are aware that there are pluses to Dobson's ministry. However, after all the pluses and minuses are added together, we conclude that Focus on the Family is an organization that too often honors man and his opinions over God and His Word. While there are times when Dobson presents biblical ideas in a sound manner, too much of what he espouses and teaches is based on unproven notions from secular psychology..."

Caring for One Another in the Body of Christ  (January-February 1997)

"The Bible speaks to the whole person both individually and within society. The Bible speaks to one's innermost being, including the mind, heart, soul, and all that is nonphysical - the spirit or psyche. The Bible also addresses the external behavior of the individual, both as the manifestation of the inner life and within the context of other people and external circumstances. In other words, the Bible addresses the entire human condition..."

Psychoheresy Proliferating  (November-December 1996)

"Psychoheresy is not just a minor diversion from sound biblical doctrine. It is one of the most subtle means of undermining the faith, so much so that it is safely ensconced in Christian colleges, seminaries, and churches. Theologians and pastors ... have been convinced by others that psychological counseling and its underlying theories can greatly benefit Christians..."

Psychoheresy Proliferating (Extract)  (November-December 1996)

Psychology: Friend or Fraud?  (1991)

"It is natural to expect that the secular world, not having the revelation of God's Word, would develop its own system of values and philosophy for handling the problems of this life. But what does this mean for the Christian? Are these philosophies and values consistent with the teachings of the Bible? Do they add valuable insights that will benefit the church? Or do they represent a system of ideas and methods that is in direct competition with the responsibility of the church to counsel and help people change?..."

PsychoHeresy Awareness Ministries

"The present-day church has strained at many theological gnats but swallowed the camel of psychotherapy to such an extent that the sufficiency of Scripture for the issues of life has been overlooked and replaced with 'profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called' (1 Timothy 6:20). ... Psychoheresy is a term to describe what you have when secular psychological counselling ideas and concepts are mixed with the teachings of the Bible ... psychology deals with the nature of man, how he lives, and how he changes. Yet, the Bible deals with exactly the same issues. But, the main teachings of psychology often contradict or compromise the teachings of Scripture ... James warns us not to be 'double-minded' ... By that I mean that some people can trust God for their salvation, but rely on other sources like self-help books or professional therapy for help with their daily problems. ... [PAM seeks] to discourage problem-centred counseling and to encourage Christ-centred ministry, to overthrow intimidation from the psychological and biblical counseling movements, and thereby to free believers in local congregations to minister to fellow believers without psychological or biblical counseling manuals, workshops, seminars, degrees, or certificates."

Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way,
