One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after;
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life  (Psalm 27:4)

The State as Parent
State Intrusion into the Sanctity and Privacy of the Family

"We must remove the children from the crude influence of their families.
We must take them over and, to speak frankly, nationalize them
"

"[T]he most vulnerable children in our society ... are in our care; we, the state, are their parents"

"The first thing that a totalitarian regime tries to do is to get at the children,
to distance them from the subversive, varied influences of their families,
and indoctrinate them in their rulers' view of the world"

"Above all things, the child needs protecting from the state"

From Nanny-State to Mum and Dad: How the State is Increasingly Trying to Bring Up Our Children  (27 December 2018)

"Laws are being made and rules put in place that are increasingly regulating not only how individuals interact with each other but over ruling and attacking the judgments and choices made by private citizens [sic], in favour of shepherding society into adopting the value system of those in Government ... my main concern is that now the Mummy state is trying to take control of our children, via increased rules and regulations about how parents bring up their own children..."

Leave Families Alone, Mammy Sturgeon  (20 November 2018)

"In Scotland, 14 out of every 1,000 children are looked after [sic] by local authorities, with the majority coming from the most deprived areas. This is more than double the proportion looked after [sic] in England, which stands at 6 in every 1,000 children. Scottish social workers, more than others in the UK, have a massive challenge on their hands. So what is the Scottish Government proposing to alleviate some of the pressure?..."

The Adoption Minefield  (06 November 2018)

"We set off to foster with the intention that if we were successful we would adopt a child to be a sibling for our son. You have to attend a training course on being good parents even though we were already parents. Thirteen couples joined the course we went on - none survived the course. Yes you are vetted, but then you are brainwashed into only raising the child their way. If you failed to do this, not only could you lose the placed child but also your own child..." Children in the State System  (30 June 2018)

A few months ago, I had a brief conversation with a social worker concerning children caught up in the State 'care' system, the Rotherham et al rape gangs, the respective roles of Social Services and parents, and various other aspects of the State's assistance (at least, as the State sees it) of families in recent decades.  Because our chat was necessarily very brief, I subsequently revisited in a little more depth some of the topics we'd touched upon, collating them into a letter to the social worker concerned, of which this document is just a part.

Charlie Gard - Why the Courts Got It All Wrong  (06 August 2017)

"The plight of the little Charlie Gard touched the hearts of people all round the world - and rightly so. And there has been no shortage of blogs and articles on the humanitarian aspect of the subject. But what I deal with here are the legal issues involved, which have been strangely ignored. ... The court decided that Charlie's best interests could not be represented by his own parents, and appointed a 'guardian' to represent him..."

Lessons from Little Charlie Gard  (26 July 2017)

"[E]ven at this late stage the courts are still preventing the parents from brining him home to die there. ... there are lessons to be learned here ... such as ... the rise of the totalist state which has all power over life and death..."

Secularism Has Failed to Save Charlie Gard  (16 July 2017)

"Who is the final determining agent of Charlie Gard's life - the State, the parents, the medical guild or public opinion? Who determines who is the final determining agent and on what basis is this determination to be made? How are the actors' competing 'rights' or 'entitlements' to be be assessed? Can Justice Francis and the courts offer 'independent and objective judgment in the child's best interests' and on what basis is this claim acceptable? What if the parents wanted to stop treatment despite high chance of success? Is human life ultimately in the hands of the State, the parents or a transcendent Creator?..."

Little Charlie Gard: the Rise of Statism and the Abolition of Man  (30 June 2017)

"The medical and judicial communities have decided they know what is best in this case, and they will decide who shall live and who shall die. The parents are the last ones to have any say in the matter. They are at the mercy of the technocrats, bureaucrats, and the increasingly powerful and godless state..."

Life is Precious - the Case of Baby Charlie Gard  (19 July 2017)

"Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and their accomplices in the legal system are trying to kill a baby for the 'crime' of being terminally ill; they call it to 'die with dignity'. ... Yet some years ago our Parliamentarians decided to abolish the death penalty for heinous crimes. Something feels morally wrong here. Hospitals (including the world-renowned GOSH) were once places exclusively for treatment for sickness and doctors the people who treated the sick. But now they have a side-line in involuntary euthanasia..."

A De-Sexed Society is a De-Humanized Society  (25 May 2016)

"A system that does not recognize the existence of male and female would be free to ignore the parentage of any child. You might be recognized as your child's 'legal guardian', but only if the state agrees to that. Anybody can be a guardian to your child if the state decides it's in the child's 'best interest'. ... In such a scenario, the state controls all personal relationships right at their source: the biological family..."

Christian Parents Risk Losing Their Children To the State  (17 December 2015)

"Though motivated by no doubt sincere concern for vulnerable children, Mr Cameron's statement [that the State is the parent of children in government care] conveyed a socially Marxist view of the role of the State. He did not say, as one would have expected from the elected political leader of a free country, that the State's duty of care results from the tragic circumstances under which certain children cannot be looked after by their biological parents..."

Common Purpose Dark Arts in CoramBAAF Academy  (09 September 2015)

Here's Absolute Proof Mothers Are Better Off Staying At Home  (04 January 2015)

"In our increasingly mad and dogma-driven country, most political slogans mean the opposite of what they seem to say. The best example of this is the phrase 'family-friendly'. This describes measures to ensure that most parents hardly ever see their children, who are instead brought up by paid strangers..."

Withdraw Thy Foot...  (October 2014)

"God gave children to parents, not to the State, to love, nurture, teach, discipline, and train up into adulthood.  It does not take a 'village' or the 'Collective' or State-run 'Care homes' to raise a child; it takes a loving and biological/adoptive/foster family..."

Day Care, Feminism, and the Wellbeing of Children  (17 September 2014)

"[A]n ideological agenda has been pushed here for many decades now. Radical social engineering is a big part of why we now readily part with our own babies and toddlers, giving them to complete strangers to look after during their most crucial stages of life. ... [O]ne expert ... [is] willing to buck the system and stand against political correctness big time by saying that long day care is a 'form of child abuse'. Here is how the story opens..."

A Tale of Cruel Bureaucracy That Kept Parents Locked Away From Ailing Son  (03 September 2014)

"The sorry story of how Brett and Naghemeh King ended up as inmates of the high-security Soto del Real prison in Madrid - and why their release was delayed despite the very people who put them there admitting that they should be freed - is an object lesson in bureaucratic paralysis. As Southampton General Hospital, the Crown Prosecution Service and Hampshire Constabulary - the triumvirate that conspired to have Ashya King's parents arrested - went into reverse, their tardiness in admitting their mistake meant ... [the Kings] were kept in jail for 48 hours, 300 miles away from their son..."

UK Withdraws Arrest Warrant for Parents Who Fled State-Controlled Health Service with Sick Child  (02 September 2014)

"The legal proceedings were dropped by the CPS following the delivery of a petition signed by 126,000 members of the public to 10 Downing Street, ... There has been a national outcry over the police pursuit of the family and their subsequent arrest ... The case raises serious concerns over the role of the State versus the role of the family in relation to the care of their children. ... Questions are also being asked over how a European Arrest Warrant was secured in the first place, as it is clear that the Kings are not the neglectful parents they were made out to be..."

The Country Has Gone Collectively Mad When it Comes to Care of Children  (01 September 2014)

"In my lifetime, the attitude of society and government to the care of children has radically changed ... There is the way that social workers will swoop, with the aid of police, to take children into care on very flimsy evidence ... The state also appears to desires to control our children more and more. With more mothers being driven out to work, many children are now cared for during the working day either by carers or pre-schools. And here, there is a politically correct agenda to start 'indoctrinating' them on all sorts of political causes. ... This week, we have an even more worrying case..."

How PC Moonbattery Harms Children and Society  (04 April 2014)

"We are creating a generation of precious spoiled brats who think that the whole world owes them everything, ... this mollycoddling starts when we are quite young. Children are being cocooned from real life, whether because of over-zealous parents, or PC-bound bureaucrats..."

Ban Children's Commissioners, Not Smacking  (28 December 2013)

Those Who Torture and Murder Children Should Hang  (14 August 2013)

It must now be obvious to anyone with an IQ over 10 that liberal-left policies are destroying our culture, heritage and way of life; they are also responsible for the deaths of many of our children..."

The Theft of Our Children  (10 April 2013)

"The radical social engineers have always known that in order to succeed with their coercive utopian agendas, they must take children away from their families. Two and a half millennia ago Plato wrote extensively in his Republic about how children really belong to the state, ... The communists of course knew the value of breaking up the family and talking children away to brainwash them in the ideology of the state. ... Hitler also knew this full well. ... All the totalitarians and statists have known how important this is..."

Hitler Said It First: The Children Belong to the Community  (09 April 2013)

"First it was Hillary Clinton's It Takes a Village to raise children by community effort and cost. Now it's über-leftist Melissa Harris-Perry who says it takes a 'community' to care for children. By 'community' she means the State. ... Like all good liberals, Harris-Perry believes that she and her cadre of social do-gooders are better equipped to raise other people's children..."

MSNBC Promo Claiming Your Kids Belong to the 'Whole Community'  (08 April 2013)

"Glenn Beck opened his radio show Monday in a state of near disbelief over an MSNBC promo where anchor Melissa Harris-Perry calmly explains how your children don't really belong to you - they belong to the collective..."

MSNBC Host: Your Kids Belong to the Collective  (08 April 2013)

"[C]ollege professor and MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry says your children are not yours - they are owned by the community. ... Like Marx, she believes the individual is a 'communal being' and all human worth is intractably linked to the community, the collective, and the state is the ultimate manifestation of the collective will..."

Nationalizing Children  (07 April 2013)

"Whenever a progressive invokes the 'community', that term refers to a state-engineered collective in which the individual has no rights. Whenever a collectivist refers to 'public [state] education', that phrase is shorthand for ... indoctrinating [a child] in the notion that they are the property of the 'community'. ... Whenever an advocate of 'public education' refers to 'our children', conscientious parents should take a quick inventory of their arsenals..."

MSNBC's Harris-Perry: America's 'Kids Belong to Their Communities'  (04 April 2013)

"On March 23, my colleague Mark Finkelstein noted how MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry considers the unborn child a 'thing' which takes a 'lot of money' to 'turn into a human', costing thousands of dollars to care for each year of his/her life. Now it appears that Harris-Perry thinks that, after they're born, children fundamentally belong to the state..."

Strong Families, Not the Nanny State, Make Successful Children  (19 May 2012)

"Research found children from broken homes did worse regardless of how much state support is given ... International study singled out the British welfare state as an example of failure..."

Parents Should Rise Up Against This Neurotrash  (19 September 2011)

"While the state has always sought to regulate family life, it did so based on an understanding that the relationship between the authorities and children was mediated through the family, an institution that required a degree of respect and autonomy in order for parents to maintain their authority over their children. Today - as is clearly expressed in phrases such as 'early intervention' - the relationship between the authorities and the child is seen to be a direct one, in which parents play the role of mouthpieces of official advice..."

It's Time to Expel the 'Experts' From Family Life  (12 September 2016)

"A lack of confidence in the ability of ordinary adults to socialise the younger generation has been evident since early modern times. By the late nineteenth century, experts [sic] were making scathing remarks about parental competence and were attempting to restrain the authority of the father and mother. ... In the early twentieth century, educators and child experts [sic] sought to bypass parental authority through assuming more and more responsibility for the socialisation of young people. And since the 1990s, the once-implicit questioning of the ability of parents to socialise their children has become explicit, and increasingly strident..."

Smacking Bad, Paedophilia OK  (02 December 2010)

I am not sure how many times I have used Isaiah 5:20 to introduce - or conclude - an article, but it once again comes perfectly into play here. Although written 2500 years ago, it perfectly describes the age we we are now living in, in the secular West. The passage says this: 'Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!'. We seem to be doing this constantly in the post-Christian West. We have managed to condemn virtue while we celebrate vice. Two recent news items illustrate this so very thoroughly and tragically..."

A Child or a Statistic  (31 May 2010)

"Children are precious, but to the coming NWO and its corporate interests, they are no more than a statistic. MPs, the courts, Lords, lawyers and others involved therein alongside education, police and social services are so intertwined with money aspects and targets, if the price is right those in power relinquish any semblance of conscience, regardless of the effect on children and families because they really DO NOT matter..."

Don't Let Professionals Tell You They Know About Parenting  (05 November 2009)

"I often think it strange that parents ask me - as a GP - for advice on matters of child rearing. It is understandable that parents should seek medical advice about their children's cough and fevers, even about teething and nappy rashes. But why turn to a doctor for help with sleeping and feeding problems, toilet-training, tantrums and bad behaviour? As a parent, I have some experience in these matters - though not so much as any of the middle-aged women readily available for consultation at the bus-stop outside my surgery..."

Best Interest of the Child - A New 'Civil Right'  (16 October 2009)

"Last year, I was cleaning up my computer desktop. One item I came across was a poignant photo of a FDLS girl alone on a bus waving goodbye to her home and the life she knew. As I was looking at this image, it struck me that this IS a photo of the 'Best Interest of the Child'..."

UK Government to Install Surveillance Cameras in Private Homes  (03 August 2009)

Sin Bins for Worst Families  (23 July 2009)

"Thousands of the worst families in England are to be put in 'sin bins' in a bid to change their bad behaviour, Ed Balls announced yesterday. The Children's Secretary set out £400million plans to put 20,000 problem families under 24-hour CCTV supervision in their own homes. They will be monitored to ensure that children attend school, go to bed on time and eat proper meals..."

The United Nations: Our Children's New Parents  (23 June 2009)

"Through its various agencies and treaties, the UN seeks to undermine individual, as well as national sovereignty. ... The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) ... undermines parental authority and gives more power to the state to further dictate how children are raised. ... Parents are being demoted to simple caregivers, while the state assumes the role of the prime authoritative figure..."

U.S. Government: We Know Parenting Better Than You  (24 July 2008)

Children Need Parents, Not Bureaucrats  (01 May 2003)

"The Federal Labor spokeswoman on children and youth, Nicola Roxon, has called for the establishment of a children's rights body ... she mentions a Bill she has introduced into Parliament calling for the establishment of an Australian Commission for Children and Young people. The Commission would deal with issues like child abuse, child poverty and other worthy objectives. However, we believe she is approaching these serious problems in the wrong way..."

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child: The NWO vs. Parental Rights  (November 1993)

"The U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child threatens international control of every aspect of child rearing. It is a tremendous threat to the sovereignty of parents over their children, and makes every child a ward of the state. This report examines the text of the Convention resolution as it currently stands. ... At the very root of the Convention lies a moral and philosophical world view that runs counter to God's Word..."

Communism and the Family  (1920)

"[T]he whole life of the proletarian family is developing in a way that is new and unfamiliar and, in the eyes of some, 'bizarre'. ... They have not yet understood that a woman must accustom herself to seek and find support in the collective and in society, and not from the individual man. ... the workers' state will come to replace the family ... the obligations of parents to their children [will] wither away gradually until finally society assumes the full responsibility..."

Pavlik Morozov

"In Soviet cities, until 1991, there were statues of a little monster called Pavlik Morozov, who turned his own parents in to the secret police for hoarding grain. Schoolchildren would be marched to these shrines of evil and told to revere his memory..." [source].

Get Ready to go to Jail - Your Children Will Denounce You  (06 April 2014)

"Along with all his other mimicry of the Blair creature, [David Cameron's] most striking policy is his determination to continue New Labour's revolutionary plan to destroy the married family, drive women out of their homes into wage-slavery and abolish the whole concept of the father and husband. This scheme is always disguised as something else. It always means more State meddling in family life. Usually it is called 'Equality'. But sometimes it is called 'Children's Rights'. Both these expressions are lies. Women are not more equal, but far worse off thanks to the anti-marriage revolution, as they are increasingly finding. ... As for children, their supposed 'rights' actually mean ever-increasing power for the State to intervene in their lives. Oddly enough, this never seems to diminish or prevent horrible abuse..."

State Brainwashing Children to 'Re-Educate' Their Parents for Green Dictatorship  (05 February 2009)

"A massive program with its tentacles embedded into almost every corner of education and popular culture is underway to use the 'green' agenda to brainwash children and turn them against their own parents, as the state moves towards the creation of a Stasi-style informant society using methods that have been repeated in every totalitarian state throughout history..."

As Orwell Warned, Children Now Spy on Adults  (05 November 2008)

"When I was a child, 'pester power' meant stamping one's feet in a shop. it involved little more than begging one 's mum in an irritating voice for the latest He-Man action figure or for one of those unusually thick pink milkshakes from a place called 'McDonald's'.  It was a feeble force, this alleged power of the pest, easily squished by a clip round the lughole or by that most ominous threat issued by mums-in-distress: 'Just you wait until your dad gets home...'  How times have changed. Today, 'pester power' is a powerful political tool..."

PETITION:  UK Government Concerning Ashya King Family's Choice of Hospital for Their Sick Child  (Received 01 September 2014)

"We call upon Prime Minister David Cameron & Secretary of State and Health Jeremy Hunt [to explain] why the human rights of parents are taken away when medical treatment of their children is not up to their standards & wishes, especially when they are wanting to fund this themselves. We would like a full apology for the family and a public investigation, and for the parents to be allowed to have the human right to choose to have the basic right of picking the hospital care they wish for their sick child. The parents should not be arrested and separated from their son, Ashya."

Social Care: A Poem

by Anne Murray

"It has become apparent that, in this modern day,
our health and social services are rife with compliancy.

"And if you dare to tell them, this system isn't right,
Prepare yourself for battle; you're going to have a fight.

"They twist and turn the subject; to them we're all the same,
They will take away your dignity, and blacken your good name.

"Then you'll be abandoned, to suffer a bureaucratic fate,
Targeted by the social sharks; that use our babies as bait.

"The destruction of the family will be their only goal,
It has become apparent: the social care system has no soul"
