Australian Wines

Semillon/Sauvignon
Cape Jaffa
1997
Brand new to this Country. 3 wines
from "Coonawara" by the sea are of the highest quality. Derek Hooper visited
us in the Autumn last year and it was great for us to learn more of this
area. In "DECANTER" it was rated one of the top winerie to watch, so we
are well up with the best.

Riesling Watervale
Bremerton Lodge
1996
Another newcomer to us. Riesling
is never as popular as it should be but this one, with a bit of effort
on our part, has become a firm favorite since it arrived just before Christmas.
A wonderful fresh taste but still the petrol nose and gerat length.

ripe to produce a wine of intene flavours. Almost tropical fruits. Fabulous.

It is a real change to find a clean

been brought out really well.

The Angelus from Wirra Wirra is
always good but here is a real rival. Deep colour and an intensity that
will leave you breathless.

Cabernet Sauvignon
Bremerton Lodge
1994
A richness with ripe berries and
length which is tasting well now but can be left for several years. Bec
Wilson also came to see us before Christmas, and I believe, this is going
to be another one to watch closely.

Kumeu Chardonnay
Brajkovich
1995
A lovely well balanced unoaked
Chardonnay. I made the mistake of chilling it too much on my first tasting.
Once it warmed up the peach flavours came through.

Rich luscious flavours. This style
will suit a lot of those who find the Sauvignon grape a little too acidic
sometimes. Great with fish and ideal for ummer drinking.

A wine of rich fruit with good
use of oak, in fermentation, has produced something very easy to drink.

What a find. Smooth with velvety
tannins. From the taste you would think that this is more maturer
than the 1995. Full of raspberry flavours. Don't miss it.
