Chesterfield FC Ladies 1st Team
notched up their first win of the season after a well deserved 2-1 at a
very soggy Ilkeston. Sarah Smith bagged a goal in each half to seal the
victory, she came close to a hat trick near the end of the game when a well
placed shot left the goalkeeper stranded, but the ball hit a patch of standing
water on the goalline and failed to roll over.
We have new First Team Sponsors this season,
Grassmoor Golf Centre have kindly agreed to a 3 year deal and our kit
will carry their logo. We had hoped to be playing in the new CFC kit and had it
on order from Super League for a mid August delivery unfortunately they failed
to meet the deadline and we had to look elsewhere. The Club were brilliant with
us over this and John Peacock of the "Blues in Town" shop was able to
provide a kit with the CFC badge and Aspire logos for us at short notice. The
kit had it's first outing on Sunday and proved to be a real winner with the
players
Dealing with CFC is certainly a good experience these days.
The Reserves are due to play their 1st league game this Sunday away to
Worksop Town. Dave Cox will be assisted this season by Under 14's A team
manager Ray Simms and it is hoped that a settled side will allow the players to
develop confidence and team spirit.
The Under 16's also start their campaign on Saturday with a home game to
Leeds United in the qualifying stages of the Yorkshire Skylark League. Kick off
at Queens Park Annexe is 11am. Manager, Shaun Reeve certainly has a problem
this year, after a number of U16 players have opted to play senior football he
has just 13 girls to call on, and 3 of them are dual signed with the 1st team!
Could be an interesting year.
After a delayed start to the season due to the fuel crisis, the U-14A
team kicked off at home against Doncaster Rovers this Saturday. They too have a
new kit courtesy of Brimington MOT Centre, and it certainly brought then
good luck, as the girls got off to a flying start. Goals from Claire Simms and
Beth Gingell inside the first 5 minutes ensured that Chesterfield continued
from where they left off last season. Although Doncaster settled down and
maintained more possession during the middle of the first half, Chesterfield,
with their attacking play down both flanks, continued to create the better
chances - 2 more goals coming just before half time from Laura Naylor and a
second for Claire Simms. The second half was similar to the first with
Chesterfield's superior strength and pace continuing to prove difficult for
Doncaster to deal with. Further goals from Beth Gingell and Claire Simms (to
complete her hat-trick) plus goals from Louise Naylor (2), Emma Allen and
Annalisa Devergori completed an emphatic 10 - 0 victory. Player of the Match
was Natalie Robinson.
Meanwhile the U14B team also got off to a flying start with a 6-0 win
away at Thorne, news and information about their season, as well as the U12's A
and B will appear here shortly.
The U10's began their season in a new mini soccer initiative based at
Holmebrook Valley Park. They had a morning of matches and coaching against
sides from Matlock and Buxton. Click on mickey for further details
