4. Posters

Key factors:

Be as professional as possible.

Include essential information only - but make sure you answer ‘Who?’ ‘What?’ ‘When?’ ‘Where?’

Posters are only really effective if there are enough of them around the locality. Matching handbills (½ or ¼ size) can be distributed widely - perhaps with the free newspaper.

A ‘logo’ or exclusive symbol is a useful way of identifying your church. Use it on all literature, including letterheadings, and even, if possible, on the church building itself.

The church’s logo then forms the basis for a design for poster ‘blanks’ which can be pre-printed in colour. Details of particular events can then be over-printed in black or reproduced on a photocopier.

Don’t overlook the possibility of newspaper advertisements and even articles on the news pages as another kind of ‘poster’ . See ‘News Releases’ above.

A poster based on a ‘blank’ which incorporates an attractive line drawing of the church.
