More details about Mamod model steam engines
Alec playing on the old 486 computer in 1999
Some of these seem to be good value in multipacks from Toys-r-us and Tempo etc. We are not so keen on the cheaper and confusing 'American' Softkey software, although  similar software from The Learning Company, is at least available in a full UK version - with added moose and beavers.
Jump Ahead series from Knowledge Adventure Inc. (e.g. Toddlers, Nursery, Preschool, and Starting School), though the older age (6+) ones are not so good for some reason (American influence?).

The Fisher Price series (Toyland and Kidstown)  from Davidson (CUC Group). Great for pre-school.

Topsy and Tim (go to School, Granny and Grandpa's, and the Supermarket) from
Europress Software.
And the really excellent value Fireman Sam and Romuald from the Productive Play Company
Keith likes the non non-violent games that only seem to available on expensive CD rom's, so he's stuck with Thief [superb],  Doom, Hexen, Tomb Raider, Oddworld, Star Trek, Unreal, Half-Life and Quake I & II & III, etc.. He can tolerate Moraff Jong when he is in a pretty (vacant) mood. He remains interested in model railways (Hornby OO) and has recently rediscovered his Mamod model steam engine.
Carol likes the following girlie
(non violent) games a lot:

Pretty Good Solitaire - a shareware collection of over 200 patience (one player) card games
available for download in 1999 version from
www.goodsol.com.

Solitude for windows - lots of patience (soliatiare) card games in a freeware program. Available (with others) from soliataire central
www.solitairecentral.com.

Some of our favourite games software
Clarissa and Alec liked the following software a lot when they were under 6:
Barbie pink is still very popular with Clarissa. However Alec has developed a taste for 'killing nasties', its a boy thing.
Moraff Jong - a CD containing a selection of Mah Jong tile games,  jigsaw puzzles and lots more  similar games. All have very pretty graphics. Visit Moraff Games for sample download and ordering details.
Dorling Kindersley    The Jolly Postman series and a lot more besides. Also good for older children  (mostly primary school age).
Now Alec has moved onto computer games like Zoo tycoon and Harry Potter.
In 2004 his old Playstation PSOne blew up and much to his amazement we bought him a Playstation 2 to replace it. He now has a new Nintendo DS Lite as well.

Thanks to cheap PS2 games on ebay and amazon.com, the PS2 has become this years fave rave with Alec. Favourite games include Ratchet & Clank, Battle Engine Aquilla, Lego Star Wars II, The Incredibles Rise of the Underminer, Star Wars BattleFront II and Wallace & Grommit.

Clarissa now has a GamCube but much prefers working on the PC or surfing the net. Most of her time is taken with reading and artwork, although she has now got her self a Nintendo DS Lite for 'Nintendogs'..
