The Prodigal Son Returns

The prodigal son returns! When Lee Williams cut his first key at John Rockey’s Locksmiths in Belgrave Road, Torquay, little did he know that 15 years later he would be the Chief Executive of a burgeoning chain of security centres and that he would opening a new security and lock Centre in the very same road and just a few yards from the now sadly demised Torbay Locksmith.

As Mr Williams points out ‘having successfully opened security centres in both Newton Abbot and Paignton, Torquay was long overdue for an official Master Locksmith Approved centre combined with a N.A.C.O.S.S. Approved alarm installation department. Our situation in Belgrave road is ideally suited due to the historical connection and Locksmithing with its central location’.

Mr John Rockey, former proprietor of John Rockey Locksmiths until 1988, added, "I’m delighted that Torquay is once again getting a Master Locksmith. I always knew that Lee would be a successful Locksmith and his progress has exceeded those expectations.

New Security Centre

Following a long search for suitable premises, Crimehalt Security have just opened their new Security Centre at 55 Torquay Road, Paignton. Mr Lee Williams, Crimehalts General Manager said "we have served our clients for the last twelve years from our base at Newton Abbot and we were very pleased to find a suitable position in Torbay from where we can offer an even quicker local service. We were also well aware that Torbay was without an official Master Locksmith and felt there was a much needed gap to be filled."

The Centre was opened by Divisional Police Crime Prevention officers Westmoreland and Youlden. P C Westmoreland said "The premises will not only be offering for sale the basic locks and bolts of crime prevention, but other innovative equipment for the use of the general public for crime prevention measures. In these days of modern technology we tend to forget the necessity of basic equipment like that being offered by Crimehalt."

Mr Williams went on to explain that our services include Locks and Safes supplied, fitted opened, changed and repaired, U.P.V.C. and aluminium door locks and window locks all to Insurance Standard BS 3621, Fire Alarm Systems and fire extinguishers. We also run a 24hour emergency service and offer free advice on all aspects of security. The Centre is locally managed by Mr Steven Gale, who is already well known in the Torbay area after eight years at Torbay Locksmiths, he would welcome both old and new customers to drop in.

Doing a good deed

Castle High Security, the South Devon based security specialists, have come to the rescue of Torbay Scouts. The Camp site at Easterfield Lane, Torquay, which is a centre for both National and International Scouts, has been the target of vandals and burglars. Following an appeal by Torbay Scouts for help in preventing the on-going menace, CHS responded to the appeal by agreeing to supply and install a sophisticated Intruder Alarm System. Chief Executive Mr Lee Williams  said ‘this is a sad reflection on society, that despite the Scouts being a non profit making community based organisation, it still suffers attacks of this kind and we were delighted to respond to this call for help in a positive way and I am sure that they will experience a marked reduction in crime.’

Crimehalt achieve Master Locksmiths Association recognition

After a lengthy and rigorous inspection, Crimehalt Security, the Devon based security specialists, have been awarded Approved Company status by the Master Locksmiths Association. Chief Executive Lee Williams says that the seal of approval from the MLA gives reassurance to Crimehalt customers and guarantees that the integrity and standards enforced by the company are of the highest order. This formal recognition, combined with Crimehalt's quality assurance IS09002 (formally B.S.5750), is indicative of how seriously we take our commitment to quality and service.

Working alongside the alarms, the lock section of the company offers a comprehensive range of equipment and expertise that enhances and works in conjunction with modern day security systems. In addition to key cutting, the lock section is able to undertake the supply, fitting changing and repairing of locks and safes; master key suites made to order, as well as keys made to locks. Key impressioning, keys to code, U.P.V.C. and aluminium door locks, free advice, surveys and consultations are also available.

Lee Williams adds that although electronic security such as Access Control, Intruder Alarms and CCTV play an increasing part in modern security, their effectiveness is enhanced by the simplicity of physical security devices. With the growing, if not compulsory, insurance lead demands for locks etc..., the further formal recognition by the MLA leaves Crimehalt well placed for the future.
