The Odyssey is fiction: this hasn't prevented maps of Odysseus' wanderings like this being produced. Once Odysseus passes Cape Taenarum, south of Sparta, he is travelling in a world of Homer's imagination (though an imagination maybe influenced by "travellers' tales").
