Yes: Eumaeus is a decent man - well-versed in the rules of hospitality (unlike some other characters). There's no need to go and beg in the palace, he says; you can stay with him. You ask him about your family (he's got no idea that you are Odysseus, of course). Next morning, Eumaeus has a visitor.
