Aeolus refuses to entertain and equip a man detested by the gods. Gloomily you continue, rowing hard for six days. On the seventh you come to Telepylus, Lamus' stronghold on the Laestrygonian land, where nightfall and dawn follow so closely that a man who could do without sleep could earn a double set of wages. You find an excellent harbour, closed in with a ring of cliffs, with only a narrow entrance between two headlands…
