Where was Tiresias when the Sphinx threatened Thebes? That problem needed brains, not prophet's mumbo-jumbo, and Oedipus solved it all by himself. He goes on mocking Tiresias - his blindness as a prophet, with eyes wide open for profit. This makes Tiresias forget all restraint - what does he tell Oedipus?
