This town, on the extreme north-western tip of Sicily, is a major resort, with a beautiful wide sandy beach, and enough pizzerie to feed a couple of Roman legions. When we visited in May 2007, most were open but empty, and the beach despite superb weather was virtually deserted. The situation is really spectacular, and the town is very much larger than I would have expected for a place so apparently remote and difficult to find. Currently the northern section of the Riserva dello Zingaro - on the other side of the cape - can only be reached from here - on foot of course.
