NEWSFLASH - NUMBER OF RESCUED BUNNIES REACHES NEW HIGH
More than 33,000 unwanted pet rabbits were taken to rescue centres last year - an increase of almost 30% on 1999 (survey by The Rabbit Charity). Most rescued rabbits are children’s pets who are quickly discarded once the novelty wears off - usually within a month of purchase.
To help rehome more bunnies, The Rabbit Charity has compiled a national list of shelters with rabbits available for adoption. When potential adopters call The Bunny Hopline, they are given the telephone number and/or e-mail address of their nearest rescue. Over 200 animal shelters, including the RSPCA, the SSPCA and The Blue Cross, have joined The Bunny Hopline to give rescued bunnies a better chance. Please help our rehoming efforts by publicising this service. Thank you.
