No reports yesterday as i was busy re doing the front index page of There are loads of stories and features to keep you amused in the Scum. A new page today is called simply red. If you want irritate a Makem, Manc or Smoggie then send them this URL. http://www.the-scum.freeserve.co.uk/simply_red.htm it's got to be the most annoying page I ever made. AND now for the gossip from the last couple of days. Ukrainian and Kiev captain Oleg Luzny looks likely to join Alain Goma in Newcastle's central defence next season. Luzny who Newcastle played against in the champions league looked likely to join Boro in the summer. However after Howie's injury Ruud Gullit jumped in to hijack Luzny from Brian Robson. Although he is 30 year old, he will only cost around £2 million and is a world class defender. If Gullit should land him then it could spell the end for Dabizas and Albert. Dabizas is wanted by Aek Athens and Albert , who returned from his loan spell at Fulham this week is wanted by Keegan at Fulham on a full time basis. he still has a year on his contract and could well end up on the bench for the FA cup final, if we get any more defenders injured. When I heard that we were after a Dynamo player I was hoping it would be Either Andrea Shevchenko or Segii Rebrov. It looks like these two will also be on their way out of Kiev, following the exit of Kiev from the champions league. Shevchenko is expected to fetch over £20 million with AC Milan looking most likely to get him. Rebrov who is nearly as good is attracting a lot of interest from Spanish clubs and is rated in the £10 million bracket. He may well be in Newcastle's price bracket as speculation still grows regarding the Likes of Danifrom real Majorca joining Newcastle in the summer for £10. This rumour has been scoffed at by Newcastle who say they are not interested in him. others weekend rumours centered around Duncan Ferguson leaving for ARSENAL or Even returning to Everton. again It's all a load of bollocks,. Dunc will be playing alongside Shearer next season. Newcastle have tried to play down rumours that He will be out for a few months insisting that HE WILL BE READY for the cup final. I will believe it when I se it. More speculation regarding the Goalkeepers position. The most believable being that Gullit is lining up both the Danish under 21 goalie Jimmy Neilsen AND Shrewsbury's young reserve Glyn Thompson, who is on show at Kingston park tonight. If the papers are to be believed, Given will be sold to Villa after he plays in the cup final with Harper promoted to the No 1 spot . Jimmy Neilsen. and Thompson will fight for the No 2 spot as peter keen and Perez both look likely to move on . Personaly I think Given is Ok for next season, but should be rested for the inform Harper. |

No match report on this game as there wasn't a vast amount to report. IN BRIEF> The Line up is GIVEN, returning in goal GRIFFIN...BEHARALL ... DABIZAS... DOMI SOLANO .. HAMMAN...SPEED MARIC. ADDE ... SHEARER. Subs Harper, Barton, Hughes, McClen, Brady (non used) Worryingly there is still no sign of Ferguson, speculation grows that all is not well on the injury front. Andersson has returned , and is given one last chance to impress . Unfortunately throughout the game he tended to fall over a lot, and didn't do an awful lot. On the plus side, Dabizas is looking better as is Silvio Maric and Beharall had an excellent game. The goals both came in the first half which was rather lively . Newcastle scored first on the 15 minute mark, Maric tore down the wing, pulled back to Hamman who crossed it for Shearer to head home. 7 Minutes later Sullivan makes a huge clearance that finds Kerry Hughes. he shoots along the ground , Given fails to hold it , Hartson is quickest to react to the rebound scoring his first goal for the Dons. the game was slightly more exciting than the last two, but we need to start winning. Next week it's home to BORO. They were hammered 6 - 1 at home by Arsenal today. I think we will get a good win with this one. In the mean time Alan Shearer and England fly to Hungary for a friendly International, with Sunderlands "Super Kev" in line for his first England cap alongside Shearer, that'll be interesting. |

It's Called Rik's Remov-a-Ball Newcastle drew 1 - 1 at Sheffield last night. No point in doing a match report as it was as boring as the Everton game (with a marginally better result) Briefly Newcastle got a penalty after Rob Lee fell over Srnicek. Shearer scored. In the second half Sheffield's Substitute Scott made it 1 - 1 . Shearer was substituted to give him a break as was Rob lee. Harper played the 90 minutes, had little to save, but his kicking was good. Given is back for the Dons game , after that who knows? More exciting news is that this week Freddie and Ruud were in MADRID. Initial reports thought Juninho could be the target from Athletico. However it was Real who were contacted with Newcastle looking to buy one of their top players. Things are very hush hush, with little being given away, I asked Honest John at the Cullercoats Betting Syndicate for odds on the likely players, His quotes (to join before August 1st) are :- Davor Suker 16 - 1 Clarence Seedorf 20 - 1 Christian Karembeu 28 - 1 Robert Jarni - 33 - 1 Raul - 66-1 Roberto Carlos 80 - 1 Prerag Mijatovic 80 -1 Other Players linked to Newcastle are Tomas Locatelli from Udinese in Italy, where Ruud apparently was seen on Sunday , and young Danish goalie Jimmy Neilsen. It looks to me like Ruud is after a 3rd striker , a left Midfielder, TWO centre backs and a young goalie. This could mean that he will sell Given to Villa when they lose Bosnich providing the price is high enough. Harper being promoted to the No 1 spot. And Dabizas may also not be retained. The future of Georgiadis and Anderson also look in doubt. Pistone looks set to be sold off cheaply after his loan spell expires. All in all this would give Ruud up to £10 million to spend on some new players. More later. |

Not a lot of good news to report today, Newcastle lose 4 - 0. Luckily it's the youth team who were playing for the first time at St James' Park in the first leg of the Youth Cup Semi Final. Steve Caldwell who has made the bench for the senior team was sent off for pulling down an opponent when through on goal. looks like another Dabizas in the making. Even worse news concerns NTL, they pulled out of the Newcastle United take over this morning. I was looking forward to the huge investment that it would bring. Shares are down from 95p last month to 69p this morning. Instead of us bringing in the likes of Andreas Shevchenko for £25 million it's gonna be the likes of Louis Saha on a permanent move for £2.5 million (revealed today). The poor lad is going to miss the cup final as he was involved in a clash with David Beharall on Monday. He fractured his cheek and has been sent home to France to recuperate. He was told about the permanent move as he was about to leave. As predicted by my Predic t it girl, It looks like Harper will be given a chance to prove himself tonight. Poor Shamus, who was 23 yesterday has had problems distributing the ball to his own players recently although his shot stopping has remained quite good, perhaps he is just giving Given a rest. Big Dunc wasn't on the team bus to Sheffield . He may join up later, then again Adde could be in line for a recall, he's not been doing to bad in the reserves in recent games. With the collapse of the NTL takeover, NUFC will now be looking for new ways to bring in money, I wouldn't be surprised if they started charging people to listen to their news on their official internet site, Mind you no one would be daft enough to subscribe to such a thing whilst News is Free at RIK'S PLACE. |

So what's with this new trialist Gaston Taument? One way to find out, ask an Anderlecht AND Newcastle fan, This E Mail is from Filip our toon panelist in Belgium. Rik, He used to play on the RIGHT for RSC Anderlecht. In the beginning, we thought he could be a good buy (he was bought by our former manager, Arie Haan ). He used to be a good dribbler and a good crosser when he played for Feyenoord and the Dutch team but he did none of that when he played for us. He did get a lot of chances to play but he just didn't perform although he scored the goal that got us into Europe this season. When Arie Haan left, he didn't get into the team anymore. He also was booed by the public during his last games. At the end, he didn't even get on the bench and he made some very bad remarks in a Dutch newspaper about the team, the players and the club. This was the final straw and we're trying to get rid of him so I would not like him becoming a Newcastle-player. Ofcourse, I could be wrong but he is already over 30 so I don't think he is the player we need. Best Wishes, Filip Huybrechts, Toon Army Belgium (Ronnie Gill we are watching! oh go on then steal the Quotes if you must.) Thanks for that Filip ... It looks like Gaston has a lot to prove, I am sure Ruud is a good judge. As for him being a right winger, do we need another one? what about a left winger, we only have Stephen Glass and he is injured. Actually he's on his way to an early recovery and could well be fully fit for the cup final. Congrats to the resorves, who beat Ponteland United 3 - 2 last night to go through to the final of the Northumberland Senior cup against Blyth next month. Likely venue Hillheads park Whitley bay. The Youngsters are playing at St James' park on Wednesday afternoon. They play Coventry in the semi final of the youth Trophy. Admission £ 1.50 for kids and £ 3 .00 adults, pay at the gate. More later |

Heard the latest from DERBY COUNTY? The reserves clinched promotion this week ,They lost on Monday ten Won 6-1 on Wednesday with Adde scoring 4 and Saha the other two. Our Marra at the match has sent in two reports this week. (pictures to follow soon) With Dabizas out suspended for the weekend game, Newcastle have a bit of a problem in the centre of defence. Hughes will start, with either Stu Pearce, Steve Caldwell or David Beherall in as centre back. David Beherall Pictured above is just turned 20 year old and is from Walker, He was on the bench earlier in the season, plays well alongside Hughes in the reserves and often trains with the first team. He is one of our better central defenders and has been withdrawn from both of this weeks reserves matches. fueling speculation that he will be included in the side against Everton on Saturday. The new predic t it girl also goes for Beherall ( she is on the front page). |
