About Us

My wife, Ann, and I have been married since 1971. We've lived in North Wembley, a suburb of London for 15 years. Ann is from Helsinki, Finland and I was born in Liverpool, in 1945. Ann works in the Social Services in London. I work in the construction Industry Ian, our eldest son, is a senior IT consultant and lives and works in London. That's him on the left.

Mike, our other son is a product designer. He's living and working in Malmesbury, Wiltshire. (That's Ann and Mike on the right and me on the left.)

Occasionally, our Summers can get up to 30 C or they can be a washout; got to make the most of it while you can. Along with this our winters are definitely getting warmer. I planted a Brown Turkey fig tree in 1996. The roots are encased below ground in a metre square box made out of concrete slabs. This stops the roots and tree taking over everything.

This is part of 2001's crop. About a third of the crop ripened and they were delicious! Previously, our summers have not been long enough for them to ripen fully. 2001's fruit started turning purple in the middle of October. That year it was still mild in October! 2002's crop was not as successful, we had so much rain and there was not enough sunshine to ripen them. I'm looking forward to 2003's crop.
