Chairman: Ian Tattersall was elected chairman on the resignation of his very good friend Reg Rattan who held the post for a couple of years. Ian has been a very enthusiastic member of the Rossendale group for the last two years and his arm had to be severely twisted for him to undertake the job. His suitability for the post however is without doubt as he is experienced as a walker and is the calmest and most pleasant person you could wish to meet. Like the other officers, Ian doubles as a walk leader.

Secretary/ Treasurer/ Membership Secretary: The titles say it all - Alan Johnson must the hardest working member of the committee and is also interested in a lot other things to do with the environment when not doing his work for the Ramblers. He also doubles as Area Treasurer and walk leader walk leader.

Footpath Officer/ Publicity Officer/ Editor of Rossendale Rambler: Walter Waide is responsible for investigating public rights of way in the borough and represents the Ramblers Association on other committees on matters relating to rights of way. He ensures that the walks we do every week are publicised in the local paper and also edits and produces the quarterly newsletter. He also doubles as Media Watcher and walk leader.

Featured Committee Member: Richard Sumner, A founder committee member and popular walks leader Richard has also made his name by organising holidays to Scotland and Ireland for the last three years. This year he has left the organisation to someone else but he will be leading the walks when the group travels to Scotland in May 2000. Richard hopes to recapture the walk of the year award next year which slipped from his grasp in 1999.

Committee Members: Joan Breeze, Frank Driver, Gretchen Pyves, Reg Rattan and Richard Sumner are all regular attenders at the committee meetings and also all have doubled or still double as walks leaders, and you can go to the walk leaders page to find out more about them.
