Club Sailing Poole was launched in July 1997. By the end of the first year it had organised fifteen corporate events and entertained clients ranging from total non-sailors to international Varsity Racing teams.
The idea of instant Yacht Racing took off in a big way during 1998 with yet more success and Club Sailing hosted the Schools Keelboat Challenge in which 20 schools competed. One of the Club Sailing R19s was the winning boat in the 1998 R19 World Championships.
