Natural feeding for all species
See also: www.naturalfeeding.co.uk
At the AVMC, we offer natural feeding advice for every patient, whatever the species. This is because we believe that a species-suitable, evolutionarily-relevant natural fresh diet (modelled on that of the most equivalent wild species) is essential as a platform for health. We believe that manufactured and processed feeds present many challenges that are not surmountable in most cases.
Conditions which may be rooted in a primary dietary problem are: poor appetite, poor condition, poor doers, poor coat condition, poor body condition, poor hoof quality, laminitis, arthritis, behavioural problems, dental health, oral hygiene, plaque, tartar, gum health, gingivitis, stomach ulcer (gastric ulcer), bloat, hyperexcitability, nervousness, aggression, chronic diarrhoea, malabsorption, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), bone development problems, skeletal problems, rickets, skeletal development, exercise tolerance, tying up, myoglobinuria, setfast, azoturia, pregnancy toxaemia, milk fever, eclampsia, dystochia, birth problems, stamina, heart condition and allergy.
For horses, ponies and donkeys, we study pasture management very closely and can offer a herbal supplement to try to counteract the ill effects of modern pasture management (reduced biodiversity, nitrogenous fertilisers etc.).
We also conduct a VIDEO CONSULTATION SERVICE for those for whom it is impractical to travel to our clinic or to have us travel to the premises: http://www.alternativevet.org/videolink.htm

NB: Our main site www.alternativevet.org is subject to constant development, with many informative and thought-provoking pages to be added in the near future. It has been ‘off-air’ for a while but is expected back during July 2007, in much-expanded and greatly-improved form. We apologise if it has been difficult to make contact in recent times.
