The Rated Ace tournament is a knock out tournament that will be conducted over the course of the three main days of the convention. At stake is a coveted Rated Ace card issued by the designers of Star Fleet Battles, Amarillo Design Bureau Inc.!
Pre-tournament reservations can be made by payment of the tournament entry fee - contact Marc for payment details. Players outside the U.K. can alternatively reserve a place by confirming their attendance and informing Marc of travel details when available.
Registration will open on Friday evening and close at 3 p.m. on Saturday for the Rated Ace Tournament. Pre-tournament reservations will be cancelled at 2 p.m. on Saturday and re-registration will be possible for eliminated players between 2 p.m. and 3p.m. if spaces remain available.
The tournament will be run on a single elimination basis - the first round will consist of 64, 32 or 16 spaces (depending on attendance). Opening rounds will take place on Saturday, second (or third) rounds and quarter finals on Sunday, and semi finals and the final on Monday.
Each player in the tournament will select one sanctioned tournament ship which they will play throughout the tournament. Game time limits will be three hours, except the final which will be limited only by the end of the convention.
The Rated Ace tournament will adhere to the ADB sanctioned tournament rules, 2000 edition. Be sure to review these rules! In summary, they cover:
