I intend to build a New Life

Howard is in the T.H.O.M.A.S. Rehab Unit

I’ve been on drugs for ten years and I’ve come to the stage when I realise that if I don’t get off them now I’m going to be on drugs for the rest of my life. If I do that I lose everything, my family, my friends, I could be living on the streets or I could be six feet under in a couple of years.

I’ve been in and out of prison for the last ten years. I’ve done sixteen sentences. The last sentence when I was in prison I started talking to CARAT workers. They told me about Pam and the T.H.O.M.A.S. project. I started thinking about it when I was in my cell and I decided to go for it. I know that I am powerless over my addiction and I know that I need help. I spoke to Pam and she got me in here. It’s the best thing that’s happened to me and I know I should have done it years ago.

I’ve discovered since I came in that I need help, that I’m powerless and I’m learning how to live my life in the future.
