Yoga and T.M.

Today much of the western world's way of thinking is being clouded and even taken over by Eastern Mysteries.  Evidence for this can be seen in the rapid increase of Yoga clubs and Transcendental Meditation centres being set up, apparently with the aim of quickly relieving stress.  However the final goal of these courses is usually to enable those involved to have a 'spiritual' experience of enlightenment and that they have become one with the universe (Brahman).

Yoga and Transcendental Meditation should not be seen as just exercises and meditation; both are at the heart of the Hindu faith.  The teaching will often mention their Gurus and bring in an eastern religious flavour.

In order for the practitioners to be able to mediate correctly they would have gone through the Puja ceremony to receive their mantra and nothing is more important to them than to practice their daily Yoga and T.M.

Philosophy

The philosophy behind Yoga and T.M. is not that of God or of love or of the Bible.  In Yoga and T.M. the participant seeks to reduce stress, give up bad habits etc., but often finds that the relief is short lived.  However, in Jesus Christ alone the complete answer to these problems can be found.

The philosophy of the eastern way of life fails to distinguish between creator and creation.  As a creature we are instructed to constantly struggle to obtain a better Karma - seeking to reach a higher consciousness or realisation.  But Jesus as Creator tells us that all striving is useless and only He can give us what we are looking for: the free gift of eternal life.  This gift is available to all who follow Him now in this lifetime.

What is the sense of being reincarnated over many life times - trying to obtain this idealistic goal when Jesus offers you right now a new spiritual birth: "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John 3:3);  "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).  There is no point in having many reincarnations (physical births) because they can never bring us close to God.

The loving God who cares for all of us, came and died to take all our sins (bad Karma) away so that we can have eternal life now and be born into His family.  Jesus will give each one of us the power to face life today and live with real inner peace.

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
(Matthew 11:28-30)
