German wines

White

Rhein " Taler " Rheinhessen             1995
A typical German wine. The style is for those who like their wines a little sweeter ut are not, always, prepared to try an " unknown " wine. Great taste, great value.                                            £ 3-40             £ 3-32           £ 3-30

Dr " L " Reisling Kabinett                   Ernst Loosen            1996
Just about the best there is. Lower in alcohol yet crisp, clean and fresh tasting. This is my ideal wine for anytime of the day. Ernst is a great character and loves his work. It shows in the product.
                                                     £ 6-25             £ 6-10           £ 6-05
                                         Halves  £ 3-40             £ 3-32           £ 3-29

Red

Dornfelder QBA Rheinpaflz                    1995
A rarity of German reds makes this an interesting wine in itself. It is quite light but soft and fruity. Both dry and medium styles are available.
                                                    £ 4-90              £ 4-77             £ 4-73

Italy

Chardonnay/Pinot Grigio             Levantino Basilicata       1996
Alonzo Alo is an enthusiastic young winemaker. Here he has blended two grape varieties to produce a wine of more depth and intensity than some Italian white wines. Good length of flavour and well balanced.
                                                    £ 4-05               £ 3-95              £ 3-90

Spain

White

Rueda                     Marques de Riscal       1996
From one of the newer and exciting areas of Spain. This is a medium dry style. It is quite rich and not what is often associated with Spanish white wines.
                                                    £ 5-10                £ 4-97               £ 4-92

Valdesil                 Bodegas Senorio SAT          1996
100% Godello grape. Honey and Peachey concentrated flavours. Unusual to see a wine using this local grape in its entirety. A smashing wine to drink on its own or wiyh food.                                £ 5-32                 £ 5-20                £ 5-13

Lagar de Cevera            Lagar de Formelos SA   1996
A bronze medal at the International Wine Challenge. A classy wine from the Rias Baixas area of Spain. Full bodied with a nose of Apricots. Full length and weight. Once yried never forgotten.

Rioja DO Gran Reserva           Marques de Riscal               1987

Don John Red                          Vino de Mesa          NV
An old fashioned red showing a touch of oak. Soft, not too heavy with warmth behind it.                                     £ 4-25                     £ 4-14                £ 4-10

Valdepenhas DO Gran Reserva            Senorio de Los Llanos     1990
Unbelievable. There is no other way to describe this wine. From Valdepenha it is a lighter style of wine but has all the richness and oaky flavours you would expect from a Gran Reserva                    £ 5-10                    £ 4-95                £ 4-90

Muruve                     Frutos Vilar            1996
A meaty, juicy style. Soft tannins showing ripe blackberry fruit. A real warmer.                                    £ 4-89                       £ 4-77                £ 4-72

Agramont Tempranillo           Prince de Viana          1996
