Runners up at Kesteven

In 1992 we also had a dream of playing at Wembley, afetr competing in a competition organised by the Women's FA and sponsored by The Multiple Schlerosis Society.

In March we won the Midlands championship at the Birmingham Arena and then had to travel to the Bescot Stadium, home of Walsall FC to play Dagenham in the national quarter final. This took place on the pitch prior to a league game between Walsall and Chesterfield FC, and we won 2 -1 to reach a semi final tie with Pinner Park from North London.

A game at Wembley

The dream, unfortunately didn't materialise. Pinner Park proved to be a superb team, and although we pushed them close we lost 1-0 after conceding a late goal. They went on to play Clitheroe in front of 70,000 spectators prior to the Leicester City v Blackburn Rovers Second Division play off final, and won 5-0. The day wasn't a complete wash out, however as we were all guests of the WFA at this game, seeing Blackburn win and get promoted to the First Division.

The Club has hosted a number of matches against international opposition, and generally puts a team together based on our visitors age group. In April 1996 we entertained the Nordic Team from Vermont in the US. The Borough Council provided a post match buffet, and we also welcomed local councillors Westray and Rose to the game.
