Chesterfield Ladies F.C. were formed in January 1991 as Sharley Park Spireites, with an aim to encourage girls and women of all ages and abilities to play football. Over 40 players attended the first session in ages ranging from 7 up to 32.
Coaching to the junior players was provided by the co - founders of the Club, Jane Ebbage and Les Wilde, whilst Adie Shaw the football in the Community officer at Chesterfield F.C
worked with the senior players. SPS training

A number of girls who attended the first session were hooked and joined the Club. By February Sharley Park Ladies were in a position to play their first ever matches. A junior game - nominally Under 14's - was arranged with Derby County, and a senior game with Barnsley. - We won them both.
