(21) Of course, the mediaeval castle is no pattern for mission today; just as it is no pattern for modern warfare. Modern warfare is guerrilla warfare; and the analogy seems to apply to our Christian task as well. (22) Christian life has got to begin to happen recognisably outside the walls of the church, away from its services and meetings. (23) Christian broadcasters are Christians in the right place - though mission is obviously more than that! (24) A few Christian families may choose to live communally, living and praying together and working with folk to build community in their immediate locality. (25) All Christians need to discover how important it is to meet in small groups - in their locality or at their place of work, anywhere where there is a community of interest - to pray together, to learn to trust each other and to explore what it might mean to let God’s love be seen by others in that context. This is surely the new ‘centre of gravity’ of the local church. (26) Our active involvement as Christians in secular concerns is what matters most. For people meet Christ through meeting Christians.
