(19) All media try to be fair to the churches, but they won’t be kind. Meanwhile it is too easy for us to blame others for their misunderstandings about the Church and the Christian message. In fact it is our fault, for by our actions and our inaction we are telling people that Christianity is a ghetto religion. Communication is happening all the time. If we are not taking the trouble to communicate the Gospel, we are in fact communicating something else. (20) What we do makes the church look very much like a fortified camp. It should be no surprise that the pattern of a ‘walled-in’ church follows precisely the plan of a mediaeval castle. For ever since Constantine in the 4th century missionary strategy seems to have been to colonise by means of castles and garrisons where the faith was held secure. Go to Slide Seven |
