Two Bells for CI Sue

True to Naval tradition, the Ward Room bell rang twice for CI McMullan in February.

CI Sue McMullan confirmed her worth to Training Ship Sirius this month by not only attaining a much deserved promotion to the rank of Probationary Petty Officer, but by also being appointed Unit First Lieutenant.

Since joining  TS Sirius in June 1999, PO McMullan has established herself as a cornerstone of the instructional staff and has gained the respect of all onboard.

As a fully qualified ambulance technician and trainee paramedic, she has taken on the role of first aid instructor for the unit, along with the responsibility for the cadets' Physical Training programme.

Unit Chairman, Kevin Law, said "I am delighted with the dedication PO McMullan has shown.  I always knew she would make a valued member of the team!"

Reflecting upon how far she has come in such a short time, PO McMullan said "In an organisation such as this, it quickly became clear to me that it is the cadets that are important and not my own personal gain.  I am just pleased that I have evaded the Chairman's camera for this long!"

Cadet Of The Year 2000

The much coveted Cadet of the Year trophy will be presented to the worthy recipient at an award evening to be held on the weekend of 24th March.

As tradition dictates, the names of the nominees are still shrouded in secrecy and the location of the event is yet to be announced - but now is the time for all cadets to be on their absolute best behavior!

Further details to be released shortly!

Hold The Front Page For New PR Officer

The Unit Management Committee has welcomed onto the team Mrs Debbie Gooding as the Unit Public Relations Officer

Mrs Gooding's debut was a radio interview with Carl Chinn on BBC Radio WM to publicise the Units' Promises 2000 Appeal.  Since then she has worked tirelessly in promoting the Unit and raising awareness in general to the Sea Cadets.

Welcome Aboard to new Unit Chaplain

To complete the line up at the "all new" TS Sirius, everyone is very pleased to welcome aboard The Rev Colin Mainsly as the official Unit Chaplain.

The Rev Colin Mainsly is the local vicar for the parish of St Michaels (Bartley Green) and hopes to complement and help balance the training and spiritual needs of the staff and cadets.
