Connectors

Scorpion Oceanics Limited are the U.K. and Eire Agents for Birns Inc. and U.K. Distributors for Souriau Connection Technology, both manufacturers of Underwater Electrical Connectors.

There are several ranges available including :

Birns Miniature Metal Shelled - from 1 to 229 contacts. 6000 metres depth rated. 316 stainless steel shells with naval brass coupling nuts. Oil filled options.
Birns Rubber Moulded Connectors - The Aquamate circular range is available from 2 to 12 contacts and the Low Profile range extends from 2 to 9 contacts. Birns Glass Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) - The GRE range is available from 1 to 20 contacts and is low cost, corrosion resistant, lightweight and non-magnetic.

• Miniature Metal Shelled - from 1 to 229 contacts suitable for use mated at pressures up to 20,000 psi or 6000 metres depth. Open face pressure resistant to approx' 10,000 psi. 316 stainless steel shells with naval brass coupling nuts as standard. Double 'O' ring sealed, removable GRE inserts and staggered solder buckets with insulated pins make this an extremely well engineered connector.

• Rubber Moulded Connectors - The Aquamate circular range is available from 2 to 12 contacts in cable plugs, receptacles and bulkheads. The Low Profile range extends from 2 to 9 contacts and shares with the circular range the excellent feature of heavy gold plated contacts as standard.

• Glass Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) - The GRE range is available from 1 to 20 contacts and is low cost, corrosion resistant, lightweight and non-magnetic. This range has many of the attributes of the metal shelled connector series, including dual 'O' ring seals, positive keyways and recessed pins.

• Souriau Connection Technology - 'M' Series, marine bronze metal shelled connectors, from 1 to 61 contacts, including coaxial, high voltage (7000 V rms), high current (600 Amps). Field installable or overmoulded versions available. 1000 metres depth rated.
