This page includes references to interesting Perl
books, Internet sites, and so on.
I made a good move early on when I bought myself the
excellent book "Programming Perl" by Larry Wall, Tom Christiansen and
Randal L Schwartz (published by O'Reilly and Associates: http://www.oreilly.com) ISBN
1-56592-149-6. This is really more of a reference book than a tutorial
- after the first chapter, the pace quickens considerably, and its
really suitable for an experienced programmer with some UNIX system
programming experience. The second edition provides comprehensive
coverage of Perl 5 and extends to 645 pages. The related book "Learning
Perl" from the same publishers may be better if you feel the need for
lots of examples and explanations, though it does not include the full
reference material.
I found helpful book reviews for both these books at http://www.amazon.com.
