The CPU is known as the Central Processing Unit. It sits on the motherboard inside the computer system's base unit and is the heart or engine of the computer system.
There are many types of CPU. The Intel Pentium processor is the both common and most recent chip. But there are others Such as the AMD K2, the Motorola and the Cyrix.
The CPU chip inside my computer is an Intel Pentium MMX chip running at a speed of 200MHz.
Of course, there are other parts of the computer system, such as the monitor,modem and keyboard,but they would be useless without the CPU.
