Inter-rail Central Europe 2000

This was originally going to be an on-line journal but decided that I would rather tell you briefly where I went and what I did, rather then bore you with stuff about who I met and such. The descriptions are my own opinions so only use them as a guide.

13th June
Stansted Airport to Berlin

Buzz are actually a really good airline. The flight was very comfortable and I felt very safe.

Visted the TV tower (Fernsehturm),Olympic Stadium and radio tower (Funkturm)

The photos are of the Brandenburg gate and a view over Berlin from the Funkturm in West Berlin looking east.

15th June
Prague

Prague is a beautiful city with many lovely buildings. Prague Castle is worth a visit. Beer is very cheap as well,only 40p a pint! The clubs are really good as well. Don't miss it!

19th June
Cesky Krumlov

This was a nice lazy couple of days. The town is lovely and it was really nice to just mellow out drinking beer and eating pizza for a bit before I went to Munich.

21th June

Night train to Munich. Got to Munich at about 7am. Checked in at the Youth Hostel at 11am.
Visited the Olympic park in Munich. Took a lift to the top of the TV tower for some incredible views over the park and of the city.The Olympic Stadium is an incredible building. Also visited the Deutsches Museum which was an incredible if tiring day. A lot of the exhibits are interactive which is great because I hate walking around just looking at things.

25th June
Zurich

Zurich is a very impressive city but there isn't really much to do there. The best thing is to use it as a place to split the journey up.

26th June
Day trip to Luzern (Lucerne)

Luzern was bigger than I expected, a city of 80,000 rather than a town of 10,000. The water tower was fascinating as was the lake. There are some really nice shops here where you can buy cookoo clocks and wonderful Swiss chocolate.

The photos are a view of Luzern looking towards the lake and a 24 hour supermarket vending machine I saw in luzern train station which I thought looked really funny.

28th June
Vienna (Wien)

Really nice city. I did a 50 metre bungee jump here which was really cool. The best legal buzz I've ever had! Another city with very beautiful buildings.
