Oliver is our longest serving Recovery Coach and a recovery graduate of THOMAS. He coordinates our Recovery Programme in Manchester working in Partnership with Lifeline My name is Oliver I work for THOMAS on Oldham street Manchester. I started using heroin at an early age. It stopped me from growing up and developing my full potential. I was immature/loud and very irresponsible, I had no boundaries and my life was very depressing as a result of using chemicals. Suicide was a daily thought and my life was an existence of living in crack houses, the streets and where ever
I could get my head down. I used to go to the THOMAS Drop in Centre for food as I was hungry most of the time. I couldn’t live my life like this anymore; I was a victim of my own creation. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired my parents were ill and I came to realize I needed help. I finally made a decision to go into the THOMAS Rehabilitation House in Blackburn on Monday 28th October 2001 and have stayed clean ever since. THOMAS gave me the tools I needed to stay positive mature and most importantly I have been given a gift of life and my life today out weighs the using. I deliver a 12 Step workshop group dynamic 12 week programme, helping people who have addiction problems, through the 12 step programme within 12 weeks. It’s a really beneficial way of helping the people understand what he/she is suffering with and supporting them through the work on a daily intense basis in order for them to see the damage their addiction has caused them and others. The benefit of attending the THOMAS Group here in Manchester is that it gives the individual a chance to finally live there life beyond their wildest dreams. Being clean and serene and learning new improved conditioning is what matters. Finally growing up for once in their lives and taking responsibility for their own thoughts, feelings and actions, and most of all there attitudes towards others. It’s a group dynamic programme of learning, sharing and changing one’s life. Recovery is a lifelong process. Helping other addicted people is essential to long-term stable abstinence from addictive behaviour. Acceptance of the realistic limits of being human is imperative The THOMAS group is held on Oldham Street. 10am till 3pm. 12 Step work and daily diary’s to be written up each night and will be read out each day within group.
