Art At Work provides arts-based
training courses for corporate and professional
individuals. The courses do not employ business
themes, nor aim to team-build, but focus entirely
upon individual response to a hands-on artistic
challenge.
Faced with the hands-on, supervised challenge of
working in a totally new medium, you will develop
confidence in your ability to use your imagination
and vision. Creativity, problem solving and stress
management all demand a capacity to "not know".
Art At Work offers a direct personal experience
of "thinking outside the box".
Art At Work courses are "immersion" courses, where
participants are "immersed" entirely in the creative
process, away from the familiar work environment,
actually making an object: creating your own work
of art!
As someone who is used to giving instructions, you
will have to pay close attention to the artist who
is guiding you. The experience emphasises "listening"
as a vital part of successful communication.
Participants work with an unfamiliar medium--wood,
stone, oils, silver, clay, textiles--and face the
challenge of a tactile artistic experience. This
challenge develops skills such as adaptability and
self-control. The creative process necessitates
confident use of the imagination. New skills are
discovered in turning vision into reality, making
an idea tangible.
The Arts stimulate the mind, challenging thought
processes. It is these thought processes--the intellectual
capital of individuals--which Art At Work courses
address. Art At Work courses challenge participants'
views of themselves.
The benefits of the courses emerge when individual
participants face and adapt to the challenges presented
by working in an unfamiliar medium. The ways in
which individuals respond to the artistic challenge
are paramount.
These responses are explored, reflected upon and
learnt from in daily sessions with qualified art
therapists, who are registered with the British
Association of Art Therapists.
Positive changes and new ways of thinking are identified.
Individuals are encouraged to relate the changes
to improvements in the workplace. Creativity is
a transferable skill!
The courses take place in areas of outstanding natural
beauty throughout the UK and
Ireland. High quality accommodation is provided,
and all location arrangements are made by Art At
Work. You will have an opportunity to learn about
the location, each chosen because of an affinity
with it that the artist feels. Whether sculpting
with Irish 5,000 year-old bogwood in Co. Galway,
or working with silver on the Isle of Skye, you
will be enjoying a unique life experience that will
challenge and benefit you, personally and professionally.
