This section of the club is open
to everyone over the age of 18. The senior section has a healthy and varied
calendar of events right throughout the year. Apart from the usual races
that people take part in throughout the year as part of their regular training
patterns there are two aspects that are of particular interest firstly
to every senior member and one that is of particular fun to the Vets within
the club, essentially they are the Club Championships and the Southern
Counties Veterans Athletics League, brief descriptions of both are included
below.
Club Championships. These are a series of races held
throughout the year over various distances, although they are predominantly
10k and Half Marathon races. Points are awarded for your position within
the Amblers taking part. 30 points being the maximum, the remainder of
the points are divided between the number of Amblers taking part. To qualify
for any of the prizes awarded at the Club AGM in the following categories;
Senior Male, Veteran Male and Super Veteran Male. To qualify participants
are required to enter seven of the club championship races throughout the
year. Similar categories apply to the women, but only six races are required
to qualify.
